Every Thousand Words: An Epic Revival

Okay, my "arrangements" are pretty non-sensical at the moment, but the idea is that by the time I reach eighty-thousand words, I'll have enough words to arrange a full-sized, relatively sensical paragraph.

~ Twelve Thousand ~

The Word: in

The Paragraph: The three sprinted through the streets. Eoin kept alert the whole time, the possibility of danger around every corner. He had thought it was all over, that it had ended with their completion of the prayer at the Grand Church. He was trapped "in" a never-ending nightmare. Last time the reverend had interrupted Saera’s prayer. This time the gods had no excuse to impose such danger on them. Had he and Saera not shown their devotion? Elcalades the Giving, father of gods. Eoin had always thought the title to imply the god’s generosity. He didn’t know he played favourites.

The Word: last

The Paragraph: Opening the stable gate, Faine said, “The others chasing us will think the guards have caught us. We should have enough time to escape the city and put ourselves a fair distance from it.” He climbed onto his horse, and Eoin and Saera climbed onto theirs. Like "last" time, Eoin sat in front and took the reins, while Saera hugged his stomach firmly.

The Word: sun

The Paragraph: The sun dropped below the horizon as they cooked what stale bread they had left over the fire.

~ Fifteen Thousand ~

The Word: happened

The Paragraph: “What "happened"?” said Eoin.
____________________

~ Sixteen Thousand ~

The Word: from

The Paragraph: “Seven years,” said Saera. “It’s shown up "from" time to time, but never like this. It’s never been so intense. I just don’t understand why.”

~ Seventeen Thousand ~

The Word: past

The Paragraph: The trees now behind them, Eoin, Saera and Faine rode "past" a sign welcoming them to the village.

~ Eighteen Thousand ~

The Word: there

The Paragraph: Faine leaned closer. “Further up the mountain there’s a cave. If you go to the very end of it, you’ll find a hole big enough to crawl through. From "there", a massive tunnel leads straight through the mountain. That is our path.”

The Word: his

The Paragraph: Eoin shrugged and pulled his gloves off, shoving them in "his" pocket. He stepped into Faine’s hand, and as he was lifted he put his hands on the wall to keep his balance. The stone was as cold as ice. He put his arm up and felt for a good grip somewhere on the top, and then pulled himself up so his stomach was bent over the wall. He swung his legs over and landed next to Saera in a crouch. Looking up at her, he said, “Did you miss me?”

~ Twenty Thousand ~

The Word: father's

The Paragraph: “What was your "father’s" name?” said Faine.

~ Twenty-One Thousand ~

The Word: they

The Paragraph: This was the reason "they" were here now. The light had been with Saera for seven years. It wasn’t until this week that it decided come out and greet them. Why couldn’t it have stayed hidden? No one ever had to know about it, but now the whole country did. And they wanted to hurt Saera because of it. And because Eoin was helping her, they’d want to hurt him, too. And Faine. He was only trying to help an innocent girl travelling with the carriages, and he’d been swept into something far, far greater. It was a brutal place they lived in. Had lived in.

~ Twenty-Two Thousand ~

The Word: in

The Paragraph: Eoin didn’t have to question how Faine knew this. In fact it was quite simple. At the time they’d entered the tunnel, the sun was beginning to lower. Logically, they would have been in here long enough that it would be dark outside. But Eoin felt strange. It was the constant darkness. This was truly the darkest place he had ever been. No sunlight accompanied them through cracks or holes "in" the roof. The only light came from Saera’s Aura. A strange mystical light so pure that it was unnatural.

Epic Arrangement: They was around his father's food wall, like sun. Eoin happened past there last. We... we didn't ever be from in there.

Every Thousand Words: Eleven Thousand

Yes, this thousand did go by very quickly. That's a good thing, right?

~ Eleven Thousand ~
The Word: wall
The Paragraph:
"Come upstairs!" said Saera. The stairway they took led through a dark passage cut from the stone that was the foundation of the Arena. As he climbed, Eoin kept a hand on the "wall" to orient himself in the blackness. The stairs curved to the right before they were greeted with sunlight once more. It was noticeably less crowded here, and Eoin had a better view of the pit. He could also see some of the audience on the level below.

The Arrangement:
Eoin was ever around. We didn't be like, "We wall food ."

["To wall" meaning "to hide"]

Every Thousand Words: Ten Thousand

~ Ten Thousand ~
The Word: we
The Paragraph:
“It’s free for us,” said Faine. “Those entering the tournament and their assisters are required to be here, so "we" are not made to pay.”

The Arrangement:
We didn't be like Eoin. We was ever around food.

Every Thousand Words: An Introduction

I've decided to begin a series of post in which I simply state the word that is the thousandth whenever I write it, each thousand. Then I also give the paragraph for context (with perhaps censoring for evil spoilers).

So, to kick it off, here we go!

~ One Thousand ~
The Word: "be"
The Paragraph:
Saera stopped him. She pulled him around so he was looking directly into her eyes. “Loosen up? When I am safe, that is when I will loosen up. My life is in danger now. Who knows when the Aura will reveal itself next? It could be when I’m training. It could "be" when I’m eating dinner.” Saera let go of Eoin’s shoulders. “You do remember what would happen to me if someone were to discover I have it, don’t you?”

~ Two Thousand ~
The Word: "around"
The Paragraph:
Saera raised her head and turned "around". “What’s he doing here?” she whispered as he crossed the church hall.

~ Three Thousand ~
The Word: "didn't"
The Paragraph:
Eoin stepped out of the trees and back into the field where people were now assembling. Eoin joined Saera at the centre of the group, near the pile of sticks. People who Eoin didn’t know patted him on the back and apologised for his loss. He "didn’t" understand why people so often apologised for things that weren’t their fault. It never made anything better.

~ Four Thousand ~
The Word: "Eoin"
The Paragraph:
When he had gone back upstairs, Eoin examined the room again. Shelves hung around each side of the room, covered with flasks, vials and test tubes of an array of different colours. Strange utensils hung on hooks all over the walls, and "Eoin" couldn’t even imagine what any of them would be used for. He was overwhelmed by the variety of things in the room, things he had never seen before. He wished he could rip them from the walls and experiment with them himself, but just then the alchemist returned.

~ Five Thousand ~
The Word: "like"
The Paragraph:
“It’s just that the majority of people don’t "like" being wet, so the windows up high make them happy.”
“I’m sick of the majority,” said Eoin. “All they do is ruin everything for the minority.”

~ Six Thousand ~
The Word: "ever"
The Paragraph:
Faine walked off, humming a tune Eoin knew well from his childhood. A tune his father used to hum. A shiver ran down Eoin’s spine. He remembered being tucked into bed, humming along with his father before drifting into his dreams. It was the strangest thing to hear the tune now his father was gone. It had only "ever" been him and Eoin who knew it. So how did Faine know it?

~ Seven Thousand ~
The Word: "was"
The Paragraph:
Eoin took a step. He stopped. He looked around his village. Fire was everywhere. No. Not here. Not now. Not his home. But the streets were still filled with people going about their daily lives. They didn’t care. He tried to tell them to leave, that it "was" dangerous here, but no words came. Saera stood next to him. In one hand she held a bow. In the other, a fiery arrow. She said something to him. No sound came from her mouth, but he knew what she had said. "Are you all right?"

~ Eight Thousand ~
The Word: "we"
The Paragraph:
Faine pulled up ahead next to a large rock. When Eoin and Saera had caught up to him, he said, ""We" shall rest here. We didn't get near enough sleep last night."

~ Nine Thousand ~
The Word: "food"
The Paragraph:
Faine scratched his neck. "I need the money to buy "food" and water, and to repair things, and tend to my weapons."

From here on in, every time I pass another thousand word milestone, I will give the word and paragraph under the title "Every Thousand Words".
